Built in 1910 by King Alfonso Xlll as a grand luxury hotel to match Europe’s finest, the 5 star Hotel Ritz Madrid occupies a six storey building with French windows and balconies. The large marble floored lobby has pillars, high ceilings, chandeliers and handmade carpets.A piano player accompanies afternoon tea and scones in the lobby lounge and bar. Goya Restaurant has chandeliers, fabric covered walls and high draped curtains and serves international and Spanish dishes. Guests and locals can drink and dine in the Ritz Terrace and Gardens during spring and summer. The bimonthly Ritz Gastronomic Weeks present Spanish regional cuisine in association with famous restaurateurs. Cocktails and snacks are on the menu in the intimate wood panelled Velazquez Bar.
