Fiji, officially the Republic of Fiji, is an island nation in Melanesia in the South Pacific Ocean about 2,000 km northeast of New Zealand’s North Island.

The closest neighbors of Fiji are Tonga to the east, the Samoas, New Zealand’s Kermadec to the southeast, France’s New Caledonia to the southwest, Vanuatu to the west, France’s Wallis and Futuna to the northeast and Tuvalu to the north.

Formed through volcanic activity, Fiji (once known as the Cannibal Isles) consist of an archipelago of more than 332 islands, of which 110 are permanently inhabited, and more than 500 islets. More of the country’s islands have been inhabited since the second millennium BC (now has 800 000 inhabitant). Most of Fijians live on Viti Levu’s coasts, either in Suva or in smaller urban centers.

Fiji is a multi-cultural society with more than 50% being indigenous Fijians and about 44% Indians and th others are Banabans.

The state of Fiji, the Polynesian island of Rotuma, quite differs in its culture and tradition from the native Fijians. Families structures differ as the Rotumans have individual houses with distinct borders. Rotumans are also known for their good nature and fun humor.

In Fiji, there are many codes and rituals that are sill practiced on a day to day basis. In visiting Fiji, it is important to be aware of some of these traditions in order to be respectful to the locals particularly when visiting a village or being introduced to a chief.

Either the Totonacs or the Aztecs have always maintained that they were the ones who built it but it has not been corroborated by archaeological findings.

Alhambra, fully known as Calat Alhambra, is a fortress and palace complex constructed in the mid 14th century by the Moorish rulers in the Province of Granada, Spain. The palace has acquired the small hilly terrace of the Assabica, bordering the city of Granada where it is located.

The Alhambra’s Moorish palaces were residential buildings built for the last Muslim Emirs in Spain and its court during Nasrid dynasty. After the reconquest by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492, some portions were used by the Christian rulers. But nowadays Alhambra is considered to be one of the main tourist destinations in Spain.

As the Alhambra did not have a principal idea for the total site design, so its general plan is not orthogonal or organized. . The total length of the Alhambra is 740 meter and it has one of the largest widths. The best and the strongest location is the citadel. Other than the west side of the place, all the other sides of the wall is weak. In total, it has 13 towers.

The Alhambra (literal translation of the word Alhambra is “red-fortress”) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the inspiration for many songs and stories.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa or simply the Tower of Pisa is a freestanding bell tower of the cathedral in the Italian’s city Pisa. It is the third oldest structure in Pisa’s Cathedral Square and is situated behind the Cathedral. The tower of Pisa has 55.86 m height and 14,500 metric tons weight and has 296 or 294 steps.

It took 177 years to construct the building. The tower was made to stand straight, however immediately after it was constructed, it started leaning towards the south east due to a weekly laid foundation.

The real architecture the first stage of Leaning Tower of Pisa is mysterious. But two architects are considered to be the main architects of the Tower of Pisa; Bonanno Pisano and Gherardo din Gherardo.

The tower is mainly famous because it leans but it is an outstanding example of Romanesque architecture and would probably be famous even if it didn’t lean. A popular tourist activity is to pose for photographs pretending to “hold up” the leaning tower and preventing it from falling.

On numerous occasions the temple was destroyed by the Moslems, and each time was rebuilt more beautifully by the Sikhs. The temple’s architecture contains both Hindu and Moslem artistic styles representing a unique structure.

You can enter the temple from four different entrances. There is a small museum near the temple, which is reach in different subscripts representing earlier Indian culture and three holy trees.

The entire top of the temple is completed of pure gold and which adds a lot of vanity and beauty to the entire temple.

Forbidden City (Chinese Zijin Cheng) is situated in the heart of Beijing, China, and was the home of 24 rulers of the Qing and Ming Dynasties and now serves as the Palace Museum. It was built by the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and it took fourteen years from 1406 to 1420 to construct this magnificent contraction.

The complex covers 720,000 m2 and consists of 980 buildings with 8,707 bays of rooms. After the Chinese Civil War museum’s former collection was separated and the part of it is now located in the National Palace Museum in Taipei but both museums descend from the same institution.

The Forbidden City is a typical example of Chinese architecture and is one of five world-famous palaces with the Buckingham Palace in England, the Palace of Versailles in France, the Kremlin in Russia, and the White House in the U.S. The Palace Museum has become a real treasure of Chinese historical and cultural relics and we see that it is considered to be one of the top 5 most important worldwide palaces.

The Forbidden City, the world’s biggest ancient extravagant structure, is the Chinese best conserved royal palace. The Outer Court and the Inner Court are the main 2 parts of the palace. Some halls are converted into art galleries to exhibit bronze wares, paintings, stoneware, clocks and other precious treasures. It is impossible for one to see every corner of the palace in a single day.

The Dead Sea, the Salt Sea, is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel and to the west. It is one of the most beautiful, natural and spiritual landscapes in the whole world. It is the lowest point of water on earth, the lowest point on the earth. The Dead Sea is 377 m (1,237 feet) deep, the deepest lake in the world and also the very bottom of the sea is the deepest part (2300 feet below sea level). Its surface and shores are about 423 meters (1,388 feet) below sea level and the salt content is four times that of most world’s oceans.

There are no fish or any kind of swimming creature living in or near the sea, as well as you can float in the Dead Sea without even trying, which makes swimming here a truly unique experience not to be missed: here is the only place in the world where you can recline on the water to read a newspaper.

Although the sea is called the “Dead Sea”, this sea and the whole region on its shore is very much alive. The Dead Sea region is also an ideal base for touring Israel.

Travel distances are short, with Jerusalem only in hour’s drive. Besides, it was one of the world’s first health resorts. People also use the salt and the minerals from the Dead Sea to create cosmetics and herbal sachets. That’s why the Dead Sea attracts thousands of visitors from all around the world for thousands of years.

The Dead Sea is the world’s richest source of natural salts, hiding wonderful treasures of the world.

Where to go when visiting London? The most interesting place to visit is British Museum in London. The British Museum established in 1753, largely based on the collections of the physician and scientist Sir Hans Sloane is one of the great museums of the world, showing the works of man from prehistoric to modern times to the whole world.

The museum first opened to the public on 15 January 1759 in Montagu House in Bloomsbury, on the site of the current museum building. The British Museum is a museum of human history and culture in London. Its collections, which number more than seven million objects, are amongst the largest and most comprehensive in the world and originate from all continents, from the very beginning of the human culture. The four most famous masterpieces that attract the world are the Rosetta Stone, Elgin Marbles, the Great Court and the Magma Carta (not a part of the museum anymore).

The Rosetta Stone is more than 2,200 years old and has about one meter height. It was discovered in the year 1799 leading the Hieroglyphics Decoder which was written on the Rosetta Stone in three different languages. ElginMarbles is the second most important tourists’ attraction. All the ancient sculptures in Elgin Marbles were Greek that is why the critics say it should be returned to Greece. Another great attraction is the Great Court. The Great Court looks more like an old library, which is now open for public.

All these interesting historic facts make the British Museum so worldwide and worth a visit.
